'Unknown friends' exhibition and Dazed magazine article

As an artist, being part of an exhibition that explores themes of permanence, change, and identity is an honour. I am delighted to have participate in The Working-class creative Database highly anticipated exhibition, "Unknown Friends." This ground breaking event brings together 12 emerging mixed-media artists, including myself, to delve into the profound aspects of human existence through our artistic expressions. My contribution to the exhibition revolves around a series of oil paintings that unravel the intricate relationship between British culture and alcohol. Inspired by personal experiences and medieval terminology, my artworks offer a spectator’s glimpse while drawing thought-provoking parallels to contemporary economic systems and social status. Through each artwork, I aim to evoke contemplation and encourage viewers to question the underlying structures that shape our society and individual lives. I am particularly excited that Dazed magazine has recognised the significance of the "Unknown Friends" exhibition. Dazed, a platform where pop culture meets the underground, has a loyal community of global tastemakers. Their online platform, dazeddigital.com, continues to champion radical fashion and youth culture, defining the times with a vanguard of next-generation writers, stylists, and image makers. This recognition from Dazed further underscores the importance of the exhibition and the conversations it seeks to ignite. Each of my oil paintings weaves intricate narratives that reflect the struggles, triumphs, and contradictions within British culture. By incorporating historical references into contemporary settings, I aim to challenge viewers' perceptions and provoke introspection. The exhibition serves as an opportunity for visitors to explore their own connections to the past and consider the fluidity of personal and collective identities. Hypha Studios' commitment to supporting emerging artists like myself is commendable. Their dedication to fostering a vibrant art scene allows us to freely express our creativity and contribute to the cultural landscape. "Unknown Friends" is a testament to their vision and their belief in the power of art to inspire dialogue and shape societal discourse. As an artist, I am grateful for the opportunity to showcase my work alongside fellow creatives in an exhibition that pushes boundaries and challenges conventional narratives. Through art, we can explore the complexities of British culture and identity, sparking meaningful conversations and redefining the way we perceive the world around us. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Hypha Studios and the team at Dazed magazine for recognising the significance of "Unknown Friends." Their support amplifies the impact of this exhibition and allows us to reach a wider audience of global tastemakers and cultural enthusiasts.
